A lesson from a wise man
My grand-dad is larger than life. At 85 he still drives round France, takes his girlfriend dancing every sundays and commute to Paris every day to escape from the same girlfriend and spend some time in his little Parisian pad.
It sounds dodgy but all he does is: make chocolate, madeleines or meringues. His pad looks more like a workshop. His kitchen is a laboratory with the best kitchen gadgets you can imagine! Nothing fancy like Nigella kitchen range, no…no..no,no,no. Everything has been fabricated by the geniarse and looks more like mouse traps but trust me, they all have a purpose. His bedroom looks like a bike shed although I don’t remember him having a bike…
The lounge is just one gigantic rectangular table that will cater for the gargantuan feasts he organizes for the whole family.
So that was to give you an idea of the man.
I had a pleasant conversation with him this week. We ended talking about the health system in France and how his doctor is nothing more than an office clerk. Here is what he said next:
” There is nothing like a good old bitch!” the hardest the better they have been for me!”
( Il n’ya rien de telle qu’une bonne garce!)
“That applies for banks and administrations as well, if they smile at you and are nice to you then you know they are going to be rubbish!”
I will never forget this, and will remember it next time I have to go to the bank…

awesome grand-dad! *clapping hands*
oh, and the advice, i might put that in mind too! most probably, yeah.. smile and nice to you, and they are going to be rubbish! i guess, in a way, that make sense!! yuppp!!! true, true!!
tata & cheers! *no twirling, still*
I think I’d want my doctor to be nice to me. And the bank. After all, I pay their salary!
Wow he sounds like a pretty cool guy!
Baby: am glad it makes sense to you
I am still trying to figure it out!
Ghosty: That’s what I like too, I can’t imagine having a nasty doctor!
Guilty Secret: I don’t know about cool but unique that’s for sure
agree with Guilty Secret… i personally think he’s quite cool. sorts of, like daddyP… (err, don’t tell him this. he might be too proud to admit this! shhh….)
of course it make sense, like… in my understanding, hmm… if i want to loan money from the bank, but the interest is high hiiggggghhh… but they know that i want it, they will smile to me, and being nice. but wait till i have to make my first payment to the bank, they will be absolute rubbish! err… does it make sense…? err, i dont know. mind blocked! aitchooo!!
I get it now bab
yes he has it well sussed! The harder the woman the more pussycat they are when treated right
I envy you Slyvie to have such a relationship in your life. You are indeed blessed. He sounds like a wonderful character and I think that I could spend hour after hour just listening to him. Good for you!!
Hugs,
Jackie
You are right Shinade, for some reason he can come out with the most cringing statements but somehow coming from him it is always acceptable!
I would love to meet your grand-dad. He seems to have a unique understanding of the female psyche - one which, had I learned it long ago, might have served me well in my dealings with the female form.
More power to his madeleine-flecked jacket.
Bill, no doubt you would get on fine! you appear a bit of a character yourself! don’t you change that!
your grand dad is so cool.wow!
Thanks Mona I will tell him next time I speak to him, he should really be blogging I am sure he would love it!
