Connecting
For the first time today I took a step that I never thought would be possible . I stepped from the internet into the real world! Being a blogger and co-founder of Fuelmyblog I have certainly developed a lot of friendships/business over the internet the last few months.
Fuelmyblog happened all through internet ( I will blog this properly one day).
Today, I met two bloggers in the”real” world. I came across Eva and Catalina through blogging a week ago. It all happened by accident. What I mean is this: I was about to update my profile on blogger and clicked on La Rochelle ( location link in Blogger). Something happened…all the blogs from La Rochelle came up on the screen!…being nosy I stumbled upon EVA and Catalina’s blog. Left a comment and the next thing I knew they both emailed me suggesting meeting for a coffee.
So, today we met in a very French cafe in La Rochelle. I was not nervous. Having read their blogs I kind of knew we would have plenty to talk about.
Surprisingly not I had a really nice time. We all have very different backgrounds, one is from Venezuela and the other one is from Chicago. The three of us share an interest in Art and various oddities that France delivers on daily basis…
Conversations started flowing from the minute we set eyes on each others and for some weird reasons I knew it would be that way.
I found Catalina enchanting and warm and Eva mysterious and opened at the same time. We are going to have weekly meetings and I am really looking forward to it. Having been here for a year now, I am starting to know people but working from home is not very helpful on the socializing side of things.
I don’t know if I am getting more “choosy” when it comes to friends but I am not prepared to look for friends and usually like to grow friendship “organically”as supposed to provoke it if you see what I mean.
Today however I am very happy to say that I have possibly stumbled into what could turn into great friendships. I have not had this feeling very often but enough to recognize the signs and so far I have never been wrong! More on this in the coming months…

ooooh I’m envious. I don’t know any other bloggers and as far as I know none of my readers live in sydney…..
it is very strange how it happened, try clicking on location in your profile page on Sydney there will be lots I am sure and you might even know some of them!
I’ve met several of my on-line buddies in person, and I always feel like they know me better than some of the daily acquaintances I see often!
Wow, that’s great news. I hope it goes well. I have never met anyone through my blog… yet!
I haven’t yet anyone in real life, but sooner or later I will. It really is all about connecting. Love the yin-yang symbol.
Velma: That does not really surprise me, it can take several meetings with someone to establish if there is a common ground or not but with bloggers you have already stepped over those barriers. I find it amazing!
Guilty Secret: a year ago I did not even blog!
Dan: Welcome to my blog, I would have never believed it especially so soon after blogging, it has been really a good experience so far.
wow what a great thing to do. It does sound like you got along ok, it would be nice if you eneded up good pals.
so I narrowed it down to my town… there are 6 others, 1 is the local taxi firm, 2 are the same person & the other 3 are 19 and under…. ermmm think I may stay virtual for now
I put in where I live and there are 5,900 (hardly surprising as it is a big city) …. that would be one hell of a get together
how neat! I was in a local Target once and I heard a girl gasp with a group of friends.I didn’t say anything, just kept walking around and eventually (in the scarves and purse section) she came up and asked me if I wrote a blog…. it was odd, yet flattering.
Verrry cool! I am planning to meet one of the 1st bloggers I connected with online…she lives in Maui & I’m going there on vacation in February!
There are several other bloggers whom I’d would love to meet, and with any luck someday I will.
70steen: I don’t blame you that’s a lot of blogs to look through! I have to say there were about 300 blogs for La Rochelle and most of them were students!
Christina: How amazing!
Olga: your vacation sounds amazing…I am envious!
how great to meet a blogger as well!
It happened the same to me! I “knew” it would be great and interesting and it went like this!
Now, that I think about it I consider myself so lucky to find such interesting people! I’m looking forward to our week meeting as well. That was a great idea Sylvie!
Catalina, I look forward to our next cafe! it was great meeting you both!
very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
