Mum I am eating at school tomorrow….
Bulles de Noël
Mousseron de canard – Ballottine de volaille
Filet de lotte – Noix de St Jacques
et sa fondue de poireaux
Ile flottante
Friandises
This menu is what both my children will be eating tomorrow at their local school to celebrate their last meal before the holiday break . In case you are wondering their school is totally public and free.
I am unsure of what Bulles de Noel consist of, the mousseron de canard will be some sort of duck and chicken pate, main course is Monkfish and St Jacques resting on a puree of leeks, Ile Flottante is some sort of watery custard cream with fluffy egg white and caramel sauce followed by friandises which to me translates into CHOCOLATE!
Canteen in France versus England just does not compare…on the minus side my daughter also has two evaluations to look forward to tomorrow…why????

It looks like ice cream!
No spam fritters!!! It’s like a third world country - so sorry you can’t afford to move - poor little deprived darling.
Kimchild: yes it does a melted ice-cream…I am sure Daddy Papersurfer would be asking for his money back and a stronger cup of tea!
DaddyP: correct me if I am wrong bien sur!
Il flottante…..yum!
Um, why does that not look appetizing to me? X(
And all this fancy-shmancy foodstuffs at school. BAH. When I was that age, we had regular cafeteria slop spooned out by middle-aged fat ladies, and we were proud to have it!
Ghosty, is it what we call culture shock ?
I’m still trying to decide if it looks good or not, lol Have you tried it?
