a little corner of unspoilt French country side…

On Saturday we escaped to the country side, half an hour drive away from la Rochelle to visit our friends Nigel and Suzie. I love the place, it oozes serenity and beauty. They moved here in Landrais a few years ago with their three children. We stayed there once on holiday before we made the move to France ourselves and have become friends ever since. They have renovated their house and gites totally on their own . I have nothing but admiration for the standard of their work and sheer dedication. A swimming pool is next on the cards…no doubt Nigel will be building that too…

  1. how simply yummy are those photos and as for the gites… they are book marked for a future 70s family holiday :-)

  2. Stop making France look so lovely. You can’t escape the fact it’s full of French people ……..
When I come to stay, I think I’ll stay with you, if that’s all right – I need looking after.

  3. 70steen: if you are after a peaceful holiday this is the place to be ;)
DP:…actually correction, this part of France is full of English! after reading your post today I am not sure it is such a good idea…

  4. Oh that’s lovely! I must get over to France. Perhaps picking up a Michel Thomas course will bring me a step or two towards it happening! (The stuff I learned in high school is just a bit too far away now. ;) )

  5. hehe Jen, you must you must! the surroundings will talk to your camera no doubt…no language skills required :)

  6. Really? The English abroad are worse than the French …… there I’ve said it now.

  7. I love the foxgloves x

  8. DP: you don’t like anyone remember that!
nursemyra: Just amazing, the place is full of it!

  11. Hey Ryan! Let us know when you do, we will share a glass or two ;) …that’s if I am allowed out from my nursing home lol!

  12. Well I see I am not listed among DP’s likables. Oh dear here goes Horace again. She is just now recouping from her broken heart of snuffing. LOLZ!!

And, DP, I’ll have you know that my 2 youngest grandsons are part French from their Father’s side.

And on last report the newset is simply lovely. Now Chase on the other hand can be quite pesty.

Oh Sylvie….it is simply beautiful. I have always dreamed of France. Well as I always say Believe in the beauty of your dreams. Maybe someday.

That is of course if you wouldn’t mind Horace and me coming for a visit. She has much better manners than Gertude!!
